Fly High Fitness offers a range of junior classes, including Dance, Fitness, Cross-fit, Gymnastics, and various martial arts.
We provide various classes from Ballet, Tap, Musical theatre, and Contemporary. We offer them all different ages and abilities, from beginner to advanced.
We recommend the youngest starting age of 4 for our Baby Ballet Class. This is an excellent time for your child to learn basic movement and coordination skills, make friends, and learn the basic skills of a dancer.
Dance is an excellent form of fitness. It is not only a great cardio workout but also highly effective for toning, mobility, and strengthening the body. Just half an hour of dancing can burn between 200 and 400 calories.
Tap Dance is a style of dance in which a dancer wears shoes fitted with heel and toe taps to create audible beats by rhythmically striking the floor or any other hard surface.
Tap originated in the United States and was a cross between Traditional African and Irish Dance. Over the years, it has developed into a dazzling spectacle, making its way into some of the most iconic dance and musical films of all time.
Mastering a singular dance style to a professional standard takes years of discipline, passion, and determination. A dancer would train 3-4 hours a day, 5-6 times a week, perfecting and improving their skill, strength, and mobility.
All dance styles can tell a story or an emotion. This is portrayed through music, movement, and “acting through song,” a skill all dancers must learn “to feel their music” and describe the story or emotion they want the audience to feel.
We work very closely with my students and their progression as dancers as they develop new skills and reach new goals. An elite dancer must be committed and passionate and maintain high technique in multiple styles.
We always suggest coming along for a trial class. This is the best way for your child to understand how the class will run and what they can expect from each lesson.
For the first lesson, we suggest coming 10 minutes early so that they can settle in with the surroundings and studio space. It also gives me a chance to introduce myself and allow your child to feel relaxed before entering a potentially overwhelming experience. Make sure they have something comfortable to wear to move in quickly; sometimes, we recommend bringing a friend.
