WHAT IS A WINTER CAMP?
The winter break is relatively long, so every year, many parents find themselves searching for creative ways to make it fun yet educational and beneficial for their children.
Winter camps are seasonal half and/or full day camps for children during their holidays-vacation. Camps offer different programs with a variety of activities to make sure children are occupied in creative ways during their holidays break. There are several options for holiday camps such as private nurseries holiday camps, sports camps, arts camps and more.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF ATTENDING WINTER CAMPS?
It is known and proven by scientists that brain development is at its peak during childhood. yet our children have high energy and just want to play. The fact that children have higher While it is great to have a short break from school and get some rest, children need less downtime as they “recharge” quicker than adults. We can see it on days when we are tired energy than adults can make the long holiday breaks tricky, as it can lead to boredom and when it’s cold outside and we spend less of our energy anyways.lack of activity which will usually end up with hours of “screen time”. Poor time management during off-seasons can end up being very frustrating both for children and parents. This is why it’s so important to keep our brains (and bodies) stimulated, especially on winter breaks
Research shows that kids who attend different holiday camps (including winter, spring and summer camps) are more likely to develop better social skills as camps provide great opportunities for socializing and friendship building, do well academically as their work on their personal growth and learn new skills, they are likely to maximize brain development by eliminating screen-time and stimulate their brain, stay in better shape by getting more exercise opposed to staying at home, and last but not least, they make great memories and have fun time with other kids.
HOW DO I CHOOSE THE RIGHT CAMP FOR MY CHILDREN?
Knowing the importance of attending different activities during a long break and keeping our brain and body working, we recommend looking into 2 types of camps- art camps and sports camps (or even better, one that combines both!).
Sports camps might be the best choice when it comes to camps, as they include both physical and mental benefits for children of all ages. Sports camps can help children with tools for development and success mentally, physically and socially as they grow and go through different stages of life and in pre-school, elementary school and high school.
Sports camps can also provide a higher volume of different types of sports which can also be a great opportunity for children to enhance their already-existing performances and build more skills on top of their existing ones. They learn from the best athletes and coaches who are positive role models how to work on some desired traits such as self development, improving friendships and leadership skills.
Exercising and sports also release Endorphins- tiny neurochemicals that play an important role in our body. Endorphins are also known as the happiness hormones as they are associated with feeling enhancement, happiness and excitement.
Sports camps are also good for improving focus as this environment has fewer to no distractions other than the sport itself.
Art camps have many advantages. Other than a variety of options (so each child can find the type of arts or/and crafts he likes), it is known that making art is helpful in brain development and creativity and can even be a healing factor in different situations (both physical and mental).
The benefits of art classes have been proven multiple times by science. Benefits include increased self-esteem, enhanced relaxation, greater focus, better social skills and better academic performances.
